services & process

*IMportant note*

In light of the current environment, we have changed our procedures to provide for “no contact” claims assistance. No direct (within 6 feet) contact is required at any time for your claims filing process; your free inspection, filing the claim with your insurance company, adjuster inspection and estimate, build, and check collections can all happen via phone, online, email and/or mail. Please click here to fill out a few details and schedule your free inspection.

1. fREE INSPECTION

Our certified inspector assesses the damages to your residential or commercial property’s roof, siding and gutters to determine how Des Moines Restorations can help with your home or business repairs.

2. file the claim

We will meet with you to review the claims process and answer any questions you may have at that time. Next, your property damages claim must be called into your insurance company to officially begin the claims process.

3. the adjuster meeting & scope of loss

An assigned adjuster from your insurance company will reach out to you, typically within 1-3 business days, to schedule the time which they will come out to your property to assess the damages. Your insurance adjuster will then provide you with a scope of loss, which is everything that is being covered as storm damage.

4. renewing your home’s true beauty

Based on your covered repairs, you will then choose materials to restore your home’s true beauty. Your project manager will contact you ASAP after materials are ordered letting you know your construction start date.

faq’s

1. How soon will my job start after I receive the scope of loss from my insurance company?

We purchase materials for your job as soon as we receive your first fully endorsed insurance check for your claim. We will begin replacing your roof/s within a week, weather permitting, of our office receiving the check*.
*If that check lists your mortgage company as a co-payee, they must endorse the check prior to our scheduling your job.

2. When will my job materials be delivered?

Weather permitting, materials will be delivered to your house or business the day prior or the day of the building start date that your project manager provides to you.

3. Where will my job materials be delivered?

Materials will be dropped in your driveway if you have a driveway. If you don’t have a driveway, they will be dropped in front of your house or business, on the street. Be sure to have all cars and/or other impediments moved out of the driveway (i.e. park on the street) the night before materials are delivered so that you don't get trapped in the driveway or garage during construction.

4. How long will my job take to complete?

The typical roofing project takes approximately 1-2 days*, siding project takes approximately 4-5 days*, gutter jobs are typically completed within one day*. A different crew will handle each aspect of your job i.e. one roofing crew, a different siding crew and a third crew for gutters.
*Based upon the average residential projects, commercial projects typically take longer - these estimates are based on weather permitting.

5. Why is my job taking longer than expected to complete?

Please be flexible with the start date and timeframe; it is nearly impossible to schedule a construction start time and completion time to the hour due to multiple moving components to a build. We try our absolute best to give property owners a realistic start date, but please bear in mind that there are countless extenuating circumstances that can affect the schedule. Inclement weather, surprises on the job before yours, material delivery delays, crew leaders may get sick or have an emergency, etc. We will do our best to keep you up to date with any schedule changes along the way. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

6. How early will my crew start work each day?

Your crew may start working at your house as early as 7:00am.

7. How late will my crew work each day?

Your crew will typically work until your job is complete, or until there is no daylight left each day. Your crew may occasionally work past dark – your crew’s work schedule is always weather permitting.

8. How do I get my satellite dish re-calibrated after my roof is replaced?

To fully replace your roof, we must detach your satellite dish, if you have one. You will need to call your cable or dish company to arrange for them to re-mount and re-calibrate your dish after we have completed your roof replacement. For liability reasons, we, your contractor, cannot re-calibrate your dish for you after replacing your roof. We will, however, cover the cost of this re-calibration. If you are billed for this service, please email a copy of the re-calibration bill from your dish company to lea@desmoinesrestorations.com for reimbursement. This amount will be deducted from your final invoice, after your job has been completed.

9. How loud will the construction process be?

Demolition and construction can be noisy; sorry for any inconvenience.

10. Will there be any nails lying around my property after the job is complete?

The construction of a roof involves a LOT of nails, just as many come off the roof as go on it. While our crew members do their best to remove all nails from your property with rolling magnets after the build, it is nearly impossible to get every single one. Please be careful after the build; you may encounter a stray nail or two.

11. What are my ARCHITECTURAL shingle color choices for my new roof?

We install Owens Corning - TruDefinition Duration shingles on your new roof as part of your insurance claim. These architectural shingles have a 50-year rating and come with a manufacturer warranty. Your roof color choices can be found here.

Additional shingle options are available, for an out-of-pocket charge, such as Duration Designer shingles, or shingles options which offer insurance premium discounts (check with your insurance company).

12. Do you install metal roofs as well?

Yes. We routinely install metal roofs on both residential and commercial buildings for insurance claims as well as bid jobs. There will be an out-of-pocket expense associated with upgrading from architectural shingles to metal panels. Ask your project manager for a metal upcharge quote, or for a metal roofing out-of-pocket bid.

13. Does des moines restorations provide out-of-pocket bids?

Yes. Call our office or email lea@desmoinesrestorations.com to request an out-of-pocket quote for a new commercial or residential roof and/or siding. We also replace metal siding panels.

14. Do YOU TAKE ON COMMERCIAL JOBS?

Yes. Commercial roofing and siding jobs make up a significant portion of our workload.

14. What are my SiDING COLOR OPTIONS?

Color options and warranty information for Gentek Concord Vinyl Siding can be found here. Classic colors are included in insurance claim pricing for siding replacement estimates; designer colors would incur an up-charge.

15. What are my GUTTER AND GUTTER GUARD COLOR OPTIONS?

Please ask your project manager for color swatches for your replacement gutters, if you do not want to match your current color. Gutter guard colors are more limited - white or dark bronze.
